Calcium spots on brain

Hi,

My cousin has been having headaches for months and so had a CT scan. He go the results today and said it all looks normal apart from some small calcium spots on his brain. They've taken blood samples and he's going to get another appointment. What could be causing these and is it serious? :( He is only 21. He did have a blood test a couple of month said ago that showed low vitamin D but everything else was fine.

Just a note if you don't get many or any replies that this is a medical question, and this is a forum geared around anxiety disorders, so it may simply be people don't know the answer and nothing should be read into a lack of response.
