Scared about a mole

I’m on holidays in Japan, but a mole is causing me so much anxiety :(

I’m 25, and I’ve had a mole near my sideburns since childhood. It’s large (1/4 inch), light brown (1 colour) and round. It’s never showed any changes

Around a week ago it was sore. It’s no longer sore, but below it is a small pink area (same size as mole)

It’s not going down, and it’s scaring me. I’ve tried so many different lotions and nothing is working.

Should I be worried about this? I can’t believe I’m letting my health anxiety ruin my holiday :(

Hi,

You may have had a spot/sore below the mole (it does happen, I've had one in a mole) so give it time. The good thing is that you can keep an eye on it. I'd lay off the lotions as they may make it worse and just use a 5% hydrocortisone cream for a few days.

My partner has a mole in the same as yours and it's just a solar keratosis.

Don't worry too much just see your Dr if it's still the same when you get back. Enjoy your holiday :)
