Hi All,
So for as long as i can remember I can feel two soft round masses under my chin, directly under and slightly to the side, I always just assumed these were not lymph nodes as I've always been able to feel them.
Can anyone feel these things or are they lymph nodes and i just have unusually large ones?
The Dr felt around my neck today and he said, 'you're lymph nodes are up.' and he felt directly under my chin, yet when I go to the Dentist or the other Dr they never feel there and always say 'you don't have swollen lymph nodes so now I"m confused....'
Anyone else have these soft little balls either side of your chin.
• let's keep it clean, please!! ;) :roflmao:

Are they the submandibular glands - or saliva glands?

Yep,

You've got it, they are the salivary glands and there's 2 sets of them. I can feel mine when I'm in a CFS flare (and they feel sore) when I have some dryness issues. Very common in people with autoimmune conditions. It doesn't signal anything else unless they become really large (and I mean REALLY large)!!

Don't even worry about it.

Hope this helps x

Are you currently taking anti-anxiety medication, and if not, why not?

agh i know it is starting again!!
I know my trigger now though, which I never did before and it's scratches or cuts, weirdly enough as soon as I get a scratch or a cut I go into over drive and then I notice everything!
To be fear though I do have a terrible sore head, - the lymph nodes and heart beat I'm not longer worried about - ALS - gone, I don't have it, if I do have it then what can you do - nothing, so I'm not so worried about that one, I'm more worried about the ones I can potentially control ...
Thanks for hitting me up - hey guess what, I still have a twitching eye though! 9 months later ;) - not worried about that anymore either, so there is progress, albeit probably not 'real' progress as I am still here.

Tan, GP's must see those lymph nodes every day of their lives. When we were kids you would go to your GP with a bad throat and they always had a feel of that area.

GP's are trained on how to examine the lymph nodes all around the body and how to manipulate the position to better access them. Dentists are limited to oral work and whilst I would regard them more specialised in anything oral than a GP, when it comes to lymph nodes my money would always be on GP's as they treat throat issues as well as other issues of the face that alone that mean they have an expert command of spotting them.

Elen is right. It's time to grab it now before it's galloping along pulling you behind it.
