how long?

hi there. im a sufferer of GAD. i normally take an antipsychotic such as chlorpromazine,but am worried about side effects,as anyone would be. i have been prescribed amitriptyline at 50mg,been on them 9 days,but i think ive noticed an INCREASE in anxiety rather than a reduction. i know people say it takes a while for an antidepressant to work,is it normal to get worse before better? am i looking at a minimum of 4 weeks to start working? ive had antidepressants before but i dont think ive ever given any a good chance to work. any advice is appreciated. thanks

Hi Yes its true you are looking at around 2 months before you feel better this is normal, and yes you will feel worse before you get better and have a look at therapy too :) ATB
