Wake up gasping for air

I rarely get this but when I do it really scares me, sometimes I wake up gasping for air like my breathing has stopped, I wake up really out of breath and gasping for air and racing heart, Im scared that one day I wont wake up due to this?

I've had this too. For me it is usually a panic attack or a bad dream that has set it off. If you have anxiety I would guess that that is what the problem is, but I am no doctor. If it concerns you ask your doctor, but seeing as you are on here, I'm guessing it is anxiety playing its mind tricks on you. Stay strong!
