Im a 23 year old male. Since last April I started having severe back pain opposite of where my stomach sits. Its near at the bottom of the ribcage on back left side. I have added a picture of where the pain is. (The red circle is where the back pain is around and the arrows are where the pain radiates up into my shoulder blade causing pain). I went to doctor and chiropractor and they said its probably a muscle. The pain got less severe over the summer but there was still constant pain. I went to the doctor again in October and they did a full blood count, liver, pancreas, gall bladder, and thyroid (everything came back normal) and said it was probably muscle again.

The pain has always been constant and hasn't improved or gotten worse. Its in the same spot on my back and seems to have been affecting the left back and left core. Its stayed pretty consistent in pain and I'm always uncomfortable. Also starting 3 months ago I have pain that radiates up into my left shoulder blade, which concerns me. My shoulder blade seems to always be in pain too now. Last, when I work out and do sit ups, the right side of my abs only burn. My left side of my core doesn't seem to work and or burn when exercising. The pain feels like its deeper inside my body but i can't tell.

I am worried that I have a sarcoma or some other tumor that is pressing on nerves and muscles in my back. I don't know if i should go back to the doctor cause Im scared. The pain hasn't gone away since last April and I'm scared to death to find something bad. I haven't had any symptoms like fatigue, night sweats, fever, swollen lymph nodes, or weight loss. Only thing i would say is that I don't have an appetite anymore.

Anyone have any suggestions what I should do? My Health anxiety is through the roof right now.

Sounds like you have been well checked out and I would have thought you could put thoughts of sinister things out of your head.

Have you thought of seeing a physio? They may have some advice based on your exercise routine.

Please read the below post from Admin. You are posting about a lot of different things frequently. Perhaps start a thread where you can keep all of your worries in one place.

Can posters, especially those who are posting a lot about a variety of fears please confine their posts to one thread.

This helps others to build up a clear picture of what is happening and makes it easier to offer suitable advice.

You may not see the pattern but usually it is there, especially if you are posting frequently about different things.

Due to technical problems it is proving difficult to merge posts so for the moment any posts that we feel should be on a previous thread will be closed, allowing you the opportunity to re-post on your existing thread.

Your co-operation with this would be greatly appreciated.

I have had pain in my bottom left ribs on my back for a year now, opposite of my stomach on back.. The pain has stayed the same and hasn't gotten any better or worse. The pain goes from my back, wraps around my side and also give me pain in my lower left ribcage where my stomach is. About 4 months ago I started to have pain in my shoulder blade.

I went to the doctor and got a full blood count which checked blood cells and organs like pancreas liver gall bladder. The pain hasn't gotten any better and my health anxiety has been through the rough. I also got another checkup and blood count this past fall and my doctor said again it's probably muscle and my blood tests came back normal.

I'm 23 year old male and I haven't worked out in 2 weeks. I've seen a back massage specialist and that isn't helping either. She said it was muscular too. I'm freaking out that it is cancer even though I don't have any other symptoms like fever, night sweats, fatigue, unexplained weight loss. I just have a lot of pain in my bottom ribs and it won't go away no matter what. I'm worried about leukemia or sarcoma or something else bad.

Should I be concerned and go see a different doctor?

I think you trust what the doctors are telling you to be honest.

So you think it's probably just a pulled muscle? Loose rib? Or something with muscle?

If this has been getting slowly a little worse over the past year and hasn't gotten better could it be cancer?

You have seen a doctor and they told you what they thought but if you want to go back then that is up to you really.

Ok but I don't have a lot of money and just want to know in people's opinions is this worth going to get looked at again? I don't know what to do. My anxiety has been high lately sorry.

I am posting here because I have nobody to talk to about this as nobody seems to take me seriously and I need to kind of let out my worries. It feels now as if it's the bone in my bottom left ribcage on my back than a muscle. I have knots that go up into my shoulder blade that have gotten worse over time. I have shoulder pain and now hip pain all left side.

I'm having anxiety attacks thinking it's bone cancer. I've stopped working out, sat in hot tubs, cold tubs, used patches of icy hot, sat in an infrared sauna and used ice packs. I still have pain and it keeps feeling like it's slowly getting worse. I'm sorry but I'm freaking out and my doctor will probably think I'm crazy

Ryan, you aren't alone. I am going through the exact same sarcoma fear as you right now, except in my leg.

If you need to vent, feel free to message me and we can talk about this. I hate how alone I sometimes feel in this, much more the thought of others feeling the same panic and loneliness.

:hugs:

Ryan, I don't think you have cancer, but it sure does sound like you have back problems. Do they have any suggestions for your back besides massage? I've read that studies show massage doesn't help back pain much. I had a coworker who was having back pain, and she got physical therapy exercises to strengthen weak upper back muscles, and it helped a lot. So I think you should check in with your doctor again, not because you have cancer, but because you need some help for your back.

Yeah I just hate having anxiety. It honestly ruins my life and makes me depressed and not want to do anything. It sucks.

I'm definitely going to doctor on Monday now and asking for a full blood count and an MRI. I don't care how much it costs I'm just sick of being in pain constantly.

If this was bone cancer or some other bad cancer would I be having other symptoms by now since it has been exactly a year since my back pain has started? I saw Doctor today and he said he doesn't know what it is and I have an MRI next week on my back.

I'm freaking out they're going to find a tumor or something in my back, but I have no other aymptoms other than back pain shooting into my shoulder and hip

Ryan, if you have a herniated disk in your back it can cause pain in both your back and shoulders. Issues with you neck can also cause shoulder pain.

Yeah but it hurts in my lower left ribs in the bones almost and wraps around my bottom ribs to my abdomen. I can't tell if it's gone pain or what. I have MRI on Monday so I'll let you know the results. I hope it's nothing bad

The area that you're describing is a hotbed for pain and discomfort. It could be from something as simple as slouching whilst sitting.

That specific area is where a lot of people with IBS or mild digestive discomfort experience pain, as there is a small pocket in the bowel under the left ribcage that traps gas and feels like a slightly full feeling or a feeling of pressure on the lower back ribs and sometimes up into the shoulder.

I don't think it's an organ cause I've had multiple blood counts and organ blood tests past year. I have strictly lower left rib pain on my back and near my spine, it then spread into my shoulder and now shoulder blade is in pain and now the past month my left hip is in pain and knee. I'm freaking out this is cancer. And that it is spreading. I'm afraid it's like the actor who played the lead in Spartacus who died from cancer. It's driving me nuts

It just sucks cause it all started a year ago and has only gotten worse. I've even went on a diet cause I'm a little over weight and lost 25 pounds to see if it would take pressure off my back and it just slowly got worse past year. I only feel burning when I do sit ups on my right side of core. It's like my left core won't work and it goes with the left back pain.

I don't have any noticeable symptoms like fatigue, night sweats, unintentional weight loss, no big swollen lymph nodes in neck, armpit or collarbone. I'm just in constant achy pain and thinking about it now my ankle hurts too. I'm freaking out

I've had two coworkers who have had disc surgery. While it isn't fun, they are feeling so much better now that the disc problems are fixed.

Hi Ryan, I hope you're feeling better x I'm glad that it wasn't something bad. I'm going through the same fear right now I get left leg cramps and a sore/tender hip and also back pain I have a kidney stone on my right one, I suffer from dorsolumbar scoliosis since I hit puberty and have a very nad posture yet maybe it's that and my anxiety causing these symptoms but i'm terrified it is a sarcoma growing inside my body
