Hi all,
I get HA about a lot of conditions but one which is recurring is Type 1 diabetes. My sister has it and was diagnosed at the age of 15 I believe.
I'm 24 and I keep thinking what if I get it too?

Worrying about it somehow brings on thirst and feeling I need to go to the loo!

Has anyone overcome this?

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder and usually has an hereditary component. It's unlikely that you will develop it but do talk to your Dr about this. Type 1 doesn't have anything to do with a persons diet per se, but you could eat very healthily and cut most of the sugar from your diet.

A young teacher at a school where I teach has this (he's about 34) and is very active and healthy and leads a full life. Occasionally we come across a young child who has this too.
