So i'm having my first EMG tomorrow and besides needles going into my muscles i have no idea what to expect, i'm going for one because i originally went to a neurologist to see due to my left bicep aching in a certain spot for months.
Almost feels like a bruise that isn't there. However the Dr didn't seem concerned about ALS like i was/am i asked her several times, but now she wants this EMG because she found it abnormal that i wake up with numb arms and hands every morning for a few mins, im honestly more scared of finding out i have something serious like ALS or MS than i am of the procedure.
But still i hope it's not too painful.

ALS doesn't cause numbness, it's a disease of the motor neurons not sensory neurons. MS is a disease that affects mostly females and it's rare. MS takes years to show symptoms. You might be waking up numb because you're sleeping tensed and anxious. This can be just the result of the excess pressure placed on the nerve from not moving and being tensed
