View Full Version : Are you a breath holder?

My GAD has been raging the last few days and I constantly find that I am holding my breath and my stomach is in a knot.
It really messes you up. Don't know exactly what brought on this episode -feel I have a heart problem, too.
Making my husband miserable, also, with my ever present fears.

I take very shallow breaths, I have recognized this and it really does affect your heart rate and internal pacing, deeper breaths make such a difference to the physical/mental union, I do a lot of yoga and meditation and implement correct breathing technique within these moments but find it hard to incorporate into my default way of using my lungs, it's not useful to take shallow breaths but it's hard to break out of! When I have had a fully flung panic I do manage to recover myself and breathe more effectively however.
