Hello. I am a vegan so I normally take a Vitamin B12 supplement. Just recently (twice) I have taken a B-Complex (all B vitamins) instead. A few hours after taking them I noticed increased anxiety and panic.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this taking B vitamins?

Thanks.

There have been threads on this on the Natural Remedies board in the past. Some people find them helpful and others find their anxiety increases.

B6 has an impact on neurotransmitters (a transporter for some raw materials needed) I recall.

I think if your anxiety is bad you are so sensitive to everything. Caffeine is no problem for me but not for other sufferers. At my worst the food I ate spiked my anxiety as I was so sensitive to changes in my body.

It might be worth playing around with lower or split doses if you can break the tabs up?

I think certain B Vits can be stimulating, which can cause "adrenaline rush" sensation, rather like too much caffeine.

I believe reducing dose will help until your system adjusts to daily routine, whereby you can slowly increase it again.

Niacin causes your face to flush. That might be an unusual sensation and could be a trigger for panic/anxiety.

It only lasts minutes but it can feel a bit weird until you get used to it.

I can't remember without checking whether there is a minimum threshold to cross to experience this when it comes to dosage. Since we eat this stuff too and don't experience it, I expect there will be.
