I have constant thoughts about health. I have fear of eating anything in case it causes cancer. I have severe fear of having cancer cells or getting them.I worry if I eat bad food it’ll cause it or if I say certain words or watch certain movies. I can’t prove to myself that I’m ok. I also am afraid if I enjoy anything something bad will happen. This taking over my life and I cannot get a ocd specialist. Any advice would be great.

Hi, I know how you feel. I couple of years back I was very scared of being happy, and enjoying life because I was sure that the moment I relax something terrible will happen. The way I felt was related to PTSD and the experiences I had growing up.

The one thing that worked for me is theraphy. On my own I was sometimes able to challenge the irrational thougths I had but the anxious mind always quickly found new things to obsess about. Theraphy changed that for me, and I know I wouldn't be able to do it without it.

You mention that you can't go to a theraphist specialising in OCD. Why is that? Could you visit a psychologist whi specalises in anxiety?

Magical Thinking is tricky as it can often be a matter of "it may happen at any point in the future..." so you can't rid yourself of it by saying the time has passed.

Behavioural Experiments can be used to prove you can't make something happen with the power of your mind e.g. you could use a keyword to try to cause something and note how nothing happens.

I think it's also very important to work on the reaction to these thoughts in order to change it from a fear based reaction to a "meh, whatever" so the subconscious starts to learn they are not important to you.
