Ate custard that tasted funny

So my mum got me these mini pots of custard but she put them in the fridge when normally you store custard in the cupboard (that particular brand at least) so she asked if I wanted one and I was a bit worried since they’re not suppose to go in the fridge but I said yes not to be rude. I took one big spoon full and noticed it tasted bad, like plastic or metal. I got my mum to try it and she ageeed it tasted odd but not off. So we threw the rest in the trash. I’m just scared now that I’m going to get sick from it.

Well I would keep them in the fridge to be honest.

It won't do you any harm to do that and highly unlikely you will get sick.

Why is this worrying you can I ask?

I always keep ready-made custard in fridge. In fact, they're usually in fridge section of supermarkets too. Wouldn't affect taste so maybe there was something wrong with product. Did you check the date on them?
