View Full Version : How do you cope with insomnia/early waking?

Hi everyone, new to this forum so sorry if not posting in the right place! Over the last few years (mostly spent on duloxetine) I’ve been lucky in that I have generally been able to sleep without a problem and if anything slept too much. However after weaning off duloxetine and return of depressive symptoms I have restarted antidepressant medication and it has completely knocked my sleep.. I get stretches of an hour or so at most and by 6am I’m totally awake. I don’t know if it’s related to my meds or the underlying depression but really struggling with it! The day seems incredibly long when you are up at 6am and I don’t know what to do with myself - I’ll start household chores but cos I’m so tired I’ll often end up getting overwhelmed. I have found lying in bed makes me worse as I just lie thinking about how anxious I am. Does anyone have any tips on how to manage the early waking and how to fill those hours before anyone else is up?!
