hi everybody -

im really worried about a mole i have on my back.

i noticed it about two years ago it felt a bit rough and dry very dark brown and tan in coulour. My wife said it didnt look serious but took a picture of it.
somehow i managed to forget about it.

two weeks ago i had a look and took another picture and compared the two.
they seemed the same but then become fixated on it.

i came out of the shower and normally i pat myself down this time i just rubbed the mole gently and the dry looking bits just rubbed right off.

this freaked me out. there was no bleeding or anything.

its about maybe 5 mm.

would melanoma flake off like that ?

I think some moles can naturally do that. If there was no change whatsoever to the mole, then there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. On the plus side. I have loads of moles that look a little bit strange yet I don’t worry about them. So don’t worry you’re ok. If this makes you feel better. I had a mole that scabbed over. I think I injured it but I didn’t remember doing it. Went to the doctor and she said it was perfectly benign. So don’t worry you’re alright

No worries. I think there’s a paper clip button you can click/ press on that then you can upload a pic like that

managed to upload a before and after -

I know I have to control my HA with this - I have a DR's appointment tomorrow morning as my wife insisted I go

I still spent about 6 hrs on and off googling symptons yesterday at work.

my wife is more worried about my anxiety than the mole itself

It looks like one of those warty type age spots that do slough off after time.

That speaks volumes as does 6 hours a day at work googling and posting photos of your moles to medically untrained strangers on the internet for reassurance.

You're posting on an anxiety website so deep down you know what the real issue is. The real question is... What are you doing about your anxiety? After your doctor gives you the all clear, speak to him about help for the illness you do have ;)

Positive thoughts

Hi FM
yes i understand it does my HA has spiraled -
i have been on sertraline for 3 years, prior to that i was on citalapram about 2 years before that.

ive not tried cbt - my Dr mentioned it but i wanted to get out of there fast

I need to tell myself to look further and do it because i think this is going to be with me forever, i just need to control it

So went to the Dr this morning and said i have a mole that looks funny -
luckily for me the Dr Said we have a skin specialist Dr whose in the room next door ill send him a message.

whilst waiting for him we reviewed my medication and i told her about my anxiety about health issues and when they spiral out of control.

she listened.

she wants me to go back in 3 weeks see how my anxiety is and they gave me some leaflet which looks like a wellbeing service ?
you can self refer

and it mentions and quote making a positive difference through talking therapies

so ill give them a call find out what its about.

the other Dr then came in (who i have seen in the past)

look at it and said seborrheic keratosis
he then looked over my hands and face and the rest of my back and said its fine and walked out ( like a mad professor)

i said to my own Dr does that mean its ok - yes

so one down for the mole one up for anxiety

something i have to work on and find out how to control it or what the triggers are.

thanks to the couple who responded its fine nothing to worry about ( even if you arent medically qualified) was enough that i got some sleep.
