epilepsy and anxiety

hi everyone i have had panick attacks and anxiety on and off for 15 years , i have just got a new gp and she has told me that my epilepsy drugs could be causing the problem , i am now awaiting to see a epilepsy mood specialist at the hospital ,has any one had the same problem , i seem to be in a no win situation as these drugs control my fits but could be causing me my anxiety , or if i change my drugs i could end up fitting again, thanks everyone

I've no experience with epilepsy myself but wanted to wish you luck at the hospital. There must be so many combinations of drugs in this wacky world that I'm sure you'll find the combination which is right for you.

I have been taking epilepsy drugs since my teenage years, but panics and anxiety only more recently. I currently take Primidone and Sodium Valporate but haven't had epilepsy for nearly 30 years.

There are some anxiety/depression drugs that I cannot take because of the meds clash but have never been told that they have caused the anxiety.

Incidentally, the reason for my epilepsy from age 11 was always a bit of a mystery back then, but only now my psychotherapist thinks the emotional turmoil as a child is the cause of both, and there is probably some truth in that.
