Hello Everyone,
A few weeks ago, I did a breath test for H. pylori and it came back negative. I have been having some gastritis/ulcer like symptoms the past few months like gnawing hunger pangs. Nothing severe like bloody stool or weight loss.
MY doctor sent me to do a h. pylori breath test and never told me to stop taking the 20mg Prilosec I was on before going. The test came back negative and I am now convinced this is a false negative. The nurse and doctor told me it didn't matter whether or not I was taking PPIs as they would not affect the bacteria but virtually every article I have read on the subject says to stop taking them. I feel like my objections were overruled and my concerns were not heard.
I am considering going to a gastro to get another breath test done the right way.
Does this seem rash? Going to another doctor for this. I usually don't jump from doctor to doctor.
