Put your fingers either side of the spot you're talking about and you'll feel a strong pulse.

What you're describing is completely normal and nothing to worry about.

Stop googling.

If you google 'fit and healthy', it will eventually lead to cancer if you look hard enough.

Yeah you really need to focus on the anxiety as you're worrying about a 100% normal bodily function. The more you focus on it the more of a problem it'll be in your head. Seeing/feeling a pulse is not going to stop.

I'm on this forum only because it pooped up during a google search where it turned out that the person was ok. Not because I initially thought I had anxiety, I was just scared and this place became a security blanket for me. So when I feel scared about something I ask on here knowing some other people go threw the same thing I'm going threw. Trust me I know its a anxiety forum.

There are times where I feel weird twitches in my eyes, and it used to happen much more a year or two ago. Nothing to be scared for. Next time you get a symptom, please refrain from googling. It's clearly making you feel worse about yourself, and so don't, no matter what. If you get symptoms and are super worried about them, and they don't go away after a while, then go to an actual doctor instead of Dr. Google. On the 5th, you'll realize you had nothing to worry about and move on, and trust me when I say that. I thought that this week, I would inevitably die of a bacteria that eats my brain (surprisingly is a real thing, please don't search it up for your own sanity lol). Guess what? Nothing happend and I'm still here, and trust me when I say I was super convinced I was going to die. Like I thought that I legit had this illness, and so I had a pretty bad week. Not my worst though. Best of luck, and please distract yourself until the 5th. Do things you enjoy doing, and don't look back. It helps a lot.

Please read this (http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=196071) as often as you need to. You use the word "felt" in your post and the simple fact that ALS is about "failing" not "feeling" blows this out of the water.

From the link...

Twitching

If you have muscle twitching and the internet says that is a symptom of ALS, pay attention. Twitching (fasciculations) is sometimes a symptom of ongoing ALS. It is seldom, if ever, a first symptom of ALS (especially if it is all over your body). Twitching is very common and is frequently caused by too much caffeine, Rx meds, fatigue, over-exertion, anxiety, stress, and many other common causes If you have twitching without clinical weakness, atrophy or hyperreflexia, your twitching is probably not from ALS, which is a very, very rare disease..

This is taken from the post of a member who saw Dr Orla Hardiman a leading ALS specialist. "I asked her about contradictory information about fasics being a precursor of MND. Here is her answer 1. As you know, fasics are common in patients with MND. But we don't look for fascics to suspect MND, we look for weakness, atrophy or change in reflexes.2. Fasics themselves are no real indicator of MND or any other disease.3. In most cases, fasics are of benign origin.4. I have NEVER had a patient with BFS who progressed in MND. And I had a lots of MND (and BFS) patients in my clinical practice.5. In most cases PALS don't even notice fasics by themselves. Usually their spouse, or someone else is the first one who notices them."

Check out Benign Fasciculation Syndrome (BFS) for the FAQ. Please note the forum administrator is no longer active so new members can not join. bfsrecovery.com appears to be nonfunctional unfortunately

Other Issues—
Anxiety

Anxiety can be a real problem that can endanger your physical health. It is what leads many folks to this forum, but it is a self-fueling fire—the more anxious you become, the more twitches you will have, the more you obsess with perceived weakness in your arm or leg or hand, the more dents you will find… and the more you will become convinced you have atrophy. If you can’t stop using the internet to diagnose your problems, or if you cannot stay away from this forum, that should tell you something important about your mental health.

You sound very stressed! Anxiety causes tension in the muscles all over the body and can release a bunch of hormones in to the system, this causes havoc with your nervous system and nerve impulses start firing off randomly causing twitching. Numbness can be caused by blood rushing to parts of your body away from the surface because you are in fight or flight. The more you pay attention to these things the more anxious you will become and the more these symptoms will persist and get worse.

You really need to see a doctor and tell them everything that you're thinking. And please please don't use Google for symptoms it is the absolute worst thing you can do. If you're going to use Google, look up cyberchondria. A good way to start recovering from this is to start educating yourself on HA, anxiety in general and the bodies response to it.

I can't post links yet but go find the anxiety centre website and look up anxiety symptoms there, everything you have is listed.

Definitely! There are a whole bunch of symptoms that can show up at any time. Bear in mind that the longer your anxiety goes on the more symptoms you will most likely have. You will probably even experience them when you are calm. The body takes time to recover from frequent or prolonged anxiety and so you can experience these things for some time after you stop being anxious which is what you want to be aiming for. As I said you should go to the doctor, get yourself checked and all clear, tell them about the anxiety and start your recovery. Constantly seeking reassurance isn't going to solve the problem.

And again, stay off Google! :D

If this persists, see a doctor to rule out anything more serious. You should definitely do that, but i am sure they will tell you it is nothing to worry about. The general rule i adopt for something like this is if it is still happening after 2 weeks then see a doctor just for peace of mind.

However twitching happens a lot with tiredness. You might be oversensitive to your pulse but this could be actual twitching which is different or at least feels different.

In my experience anxiety, tiredness, and especially too much screen time can cause this sort of twitching from nervous tiredness. I sometimes get it on my arms near the elbows or triceps, on my chest near the sternum, and often near my eyes. It does freak me out slightly when it's on the eyelids or chest but so far hasn't been anything to worry about.

Take a break from your computer screen and get some fresh air. :)

---------- Post added at 15:11 ---------- Previous post was at 15:07 ----------

I used to get an unpleasant variation of twitching on my chest which used to happen just as i was about to fall asleep near my sternum. This was terrifying. Had it checked out and resolved over time.

How is that scary? The upper cervical region is your neck. If you're stressed (and you are!), you carry tension in your neck and shoulders. There's a lot of nerves there and there you go. So, based on the fact you've been really stressed and anxious, and your neck area carries that stress, what makes more sense? Stress or a brain tumor that came out of nowhere? (no "yes, but". )

You really need to try to stop focusing in on everything or else you will never beat anxiety. It seems you're focusing in on every little 'symptom' which really is not helpful.

I agree. Anxiety can cause all the symptoms you're experiencing. I had that. My leg would throb and you could actually see it. I experienced it in my arms, eye lid, lips, nose, upper and lower leg, and cheeks. This was years ago. I still experience it from time to time, usually when I'm physically or emotionally stressed.

I've very happy for anyone who takes time out of there day to try and help a but case like me. I know its most likely health axnity but it feels all to real to me that there's some very wrong.
I've replied several times and because I'm calling you out on your anxiety, you've all but ignored my replies. You know, I know and everyone else knows what's going on. The fact you're posting here says it all.

This thread started nearly a month ago and it's just SSDD. You want advice? Real life professional help. Six pages of replies and reassurance hasn't done a thing so what else can be said here? See your doctor, show him/her this thread and ask for help with your anxiety.
