Hi folks.
I’ve had an irritable bowel for as long as I can remember which would often lead to spells of fairly impressive diarrhoea when i’m Particularly anxious or eat a lot of dairy/fatty food. In between times I would have cramps fairly often but it’s generally not too bad.
On Friday I had diarrhoea after eating icecream - entirely my own fault really. I took some loperamide - 3 tabs in total & it settled. Then bowels didn’t move again until last night - I would normally go 1-2x daily. First movement was fairly hard & I noticed some mucus but didn’t think a huge amount about it. Then I woke up at 1am & had awful episodes of wind with only mucus being passed which I can’t remember ever happening before. Had some ‘normal’ diarrhoea this morning followed by a fairly normal movement with no more mucus. Bowels haven’t moved since but my tummy feels generally a bit delicate.
Initially I thought it’s just IBS & my bowels have been upset by the loperamide or I ate a cream bun last night which is another potential trigger but I’ve now been panicking all day about cancer.
I’ve had problems with my bladder for several months which has finally started to settle a little but now i’m worrying about a big bowel tumour present on my bladder. I’ve been waiting for a colonoscopy for over a year after having some bleeding but there hasn’t been any definite blood since & my blood counts have been ok so it’s unlikely right?
I’m 31, no family history of cancer of any kind, lost some weight when anxiety got really bad in the beginning but started to regain it again now ...

It sounds like you’re just getting to normal after the tablets.

Why have you been waiting over a year for a colonoscopy?

Waiting list here is 15 months for an urgent colonoscopy & 2.5 years for routine!

Things had been pretty normal for me bowel wise so I wasn’t in a huge hurry to have it done but now I’m panicking that I’ve Had cancer this whole time that’s been missed

That’s such a long wait time! How ridiculous.

You weren’t worried about it before but you are now. You need to address the anxiety and not the relatively normal symptoms. X

I am addressing the anxiety - on medication, seeing a psychiatrist & having CBT - i’m Just really struggling today after doing much better for a lot of days - health anxiety really sucks.

It really does suck doesn’t it.

Everybody has mucus. Just give it a couple of days and I’m sure it’ll go back to “normal”
