Bad neck

I keep waking up with a bad neck on the left side and then get muscle spasms in the side of my head above my ear. It’s really annoying and it does it for the whole day. It’s making me think there is something wrong with my head or neck. Does anyone else experience this?

I've had this exact pain. So much so that I went to the ER. The doctor did a quick neurological exam and ruled out that there was anything neurologically wrong. Then she started feeling the muscles in my neck and said they were incredibly tight, and that's what was causing the pain. Depending on where she pushed, it triggered the pain above my ear. She prescribed massage which has help, and so has some chiropractic care. :)
