Last month I went to my GP with painful hands/fingers and he ordered blood tests and x-ray of hands. The x-ray came back normal but I had a CRP of 41. My GP referred me to a Rheumatologist and she repeated the blood tests yesterday. Stupidly I googled and read that raised CRP levels can be because of heart disease and some cancers, now I am extremely anxious. I keep worrying the most recent blood test results will be even worse. I get the impression the consultant doesn't think I have arthritis in my hands but has ordered an ultrasound. Has anyone else had raised CRP levels without knowing why? :weep:

Raised C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a common finding. It indicates nothing specific, in that it just means there is some sort of inflammation, somewhere in the body. In this case, it appears this is from the joints in your fingers/hands.

As your GP is not concerned over anything else, neither should you.

Good luck!
