Hi there,

I am so pleased to find this site. I have had health anxiety on and off since I was in my twenties. I can go many months without it but then it hits like a freight train - I'm a catastrophiser and can't think about things rationally, it's straight to the worse case scenario; currently this has been triggered by a mole on my face which has darkened and raised. Of course google has sent me into a spin. I know, I'm an idiot I'm perimenopausal and think my anxiety is worse because of the change in hormones.

So I'm in a bit of a state at the moment but like I said, very pleased to find this site and look forward to supporting anyone I can too.

Good morning lupacexi4.

I completely understand health anxiety, the best we can do is seek professional help to rule out any real problem. And although I am a man, I sympathize with your situation. My wife has suffered through that very thing for a while. Still I hope you can find the help you are looking for at NMP. We are just a group of misfits, doing our best to support each other. Best to you on your journey lupacexi4.

Welcome lupacexi4,

I am brand new here too and your post resonated with me big time. My anxiety manifests itself often on health issues, and you might be interested to know melanoma is one of the most common fears! Just last week I became obsessed over a mole as well. Nothing else mattered - not my family, not friends, nothing. I honestly believe health anxiety sufferers see symptoms that are not even there, or at best they magnify them.
I really like what was just posted to you : "We are just a group of misfits, doing our best to support each other." Know you are not alone!
Blessings,
PeggyJoan

Hi

I'm also new to the site and most of your post could have been written by me! I know exactly how you feel. I feel like my health anxiety is always there but it feels almost in the shadows and then when a slight thing sets it off it just comes out and takes over everything to the point where I feel like I don't know how to get it under control again.

I hope we both find some help on the site and can learn to cope better with the anxiety
