I’ve been on amlodopine for high blood pressure 5mg once daily for almost 2 months and haven’t had any major problems. I been using Listerine mouthwash with alcohol for the last few days also. I’ve noticed within the past few days after using the mouthwash that I’ve developed a canker sore in the back of my throat, in my cheek and on my tongue and I also have red spots inside of my mouth. I’m not sure if this is from Listerine or from a reaction to amlodoopine. Sjs is a terrifying disease that eats away at mucus membranes in the mouth and the skin. I haven’t noticed any skin symptoms yet.

Never heard of it, who told you that?

Hi,

This is a quite a common fear amongst people with HA. The incidence of SJS is about ONE per ONE MILLION scripts dispensed.

So, it really is a 1:1,000,000 chance.

Besides, most SJS cases happen when the patient is first challenged with the medication e.g. within a few weeks at most.

Relax, it's not SJS. But maybe see your dentist.
