Hello !

Bloods and swabs would defintely have shown if you had cancer, so.... take a deep breath and think this through. Do you still feel you need reassurance ? Make an appointment to see your doctor, or get a referral to ENT, and put this worry to bed for once and for all. Anxiety makes the throat feel tight and tense enough without this added worry.
Be kind to yourself

Yeah, I defiantly need reassurance! I've made an app with the nurse shes going to ring me back now with the final results. So the bloods and swabs would have shown cancer? I thought the only way to show cancer was with a body scan with that liquid stuff that glows when they scan you? Dont know the technical term lol..

Im trying to be strong but the lumps at the back of my throat are a big symptom of it.. I've been referred but have to wait til sept! :(

Hi Dlou,
To put your mind completely at rest you need to make an appt to see your GP.

I have and have had for years throat problems,(sometimes due to anxiety, sometimes due to my heavy smoking :-( !!) had surgery 5 years ago on throat to remove polyps and nodules, the wait for the results after surgery where hell but thankfully turned out to be simple polyps and nodules.

The annoying thing with nodules is people say its singers and people who shout alot mainly get them i dont do either so therefore it has been put down to my anxiety.

Hope all works out and try and be kind to yourself as neptuno said bloods and swabs would show if there was anything untoward going on.

Re the polyps and nodules i started off with what i thought was tonsilitis as am prone to at least 2 episodes a year  polyps and nodules usually form on your vocal cords

I found the following whilst i was awaiting to see the specialist (worrying and scaring myself) but this helped me a little hope it helps you a little also

" Vocal nodules are also known as "screamer’s nodules" or "singer’s nodules." That should give you a fairly clear picture of what causes nodules: vocal abuse. The fact that most professional singers do not develop nodules has much to do with the fact such individuals usually have been taught how to use (and not abuse) their voice. Children, adults who often scream at their children, and nonprofessional singers are much more likely to develop nodules.
Nodules do not respond to surgical treatment but do respond to speech therapy. Your allergies may be contributing to the problem, but it is more likely that you misuse your voice. Poor hydration (drinking too many caffeinated or alcoholic beverages and not enough water or juice) is another common contributing factor.

Vocal polyps are fleshy appendages that hang off the vocal cords like water bags. They are usually caused by chronic inflammation of the vocal cords. Once again, allergies or chronic sinusitis may contribute to formation of vocal polyps, but more common culprits are cigarette smoke and/or chronic reflux. (Reflux (http://www.doctorhoffman.com/gerd.htm) occurs when stomach acids and digestive enzymes ascend the esophagus and spill over into the throat, often burning the vocal cords.) Unlike vocal nodules, polyps are best treated by surgical removal AND correction of the underlying problem (stop smoking, treat the reflux, etc.)
