During my whole life, I sometimes experienced sharp, stabbing pains in chest area, that were worse with breathing. I always feared that my heart has some kind of defect and I'm probably dying. Just recently I found out about Precordial catch syndrome. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome)

From wikipedia:

Precordial catch syndrome (PCS) is a non-serious condition in which there are sharp stabbing pains in the chest (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chest_pain).[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1) These typically get worse with breathing in and occur within a small area.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1) Spells of pain usually last less than a few minutes.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1) Typically it begins at rest and other symptoms are absent.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1) Concerns about the condition may result in anxiety (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anxiety).[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1)
The underlying cause is unclear.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1) Some believe the pain may be from the chest wall or irritation of an intercostal nerve (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intercostal_nerve).[2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-GP2018-2)[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1) Risk factors include psychological stress (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_stress).[2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-GP2018-2) The pain is not due to the heart (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart).[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1) Diagnosis is based on the symptoms.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1) Other conditions that may produce similar symptoms include angina (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angina), pericarditis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pericarditis), pleurisy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleurisy), and chest trauma.[1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome#cite_note-Gum2003-1)
