Hi,

I've been tapering of sertraline for the last 6 months having been on it for nearly 3 years.

I've gotten to a stage now where I'm taking one 50mg pill a week. I manage fine for the first 7 days but then I start to get lightheaded and the typical withdrawal symptoms I would get when I first cut down.

My question is, is this psychosomatic or am I really feeling withdrawal? Would it be better if I just stopped with one tablet a week? Am I getting any realistic benifet in taking this one pill?

Hi,
well done on making it this far, withdrawel is hard! I am inclined to say that 50mg a week isn't going to make any difference and maybe you're body isn't liking the up and down effect of being without it for 6 days then having the 50. The first GP I saw told me to do alternating days 100mg/50mg etc but then she retired and the next GP said this is why you're feeling dizzy you're better off keeping an even dose every day.
Maybe speak to a pharmacist they're pretty good with drug knowledge

Or maybe do 25mg instead.

Good luck :)
