Sodium Valproate/Depakote/Epilim

Hi All,

I'm new here and wondering if anyone has been prescribed Depakote/Epilim for mood stabilisation or anxiety and if so, how long it took for it to start working. I am 1 week on 800mg and still having anxiety most days.

Hi I have been on this medication for a small while - it is like most Meds kicks in within 4 weeks - it can be a bit rough it’s not really hard for anxiety so that must be off label? Are you having suicidal thoughts as it can help with those

Not really suicidal but doctor thinks my anxiety would benefit most from a mood stabiliser. I think he feels I might be borderline BiPolar 2 although I dont agree.

Apparently epilim is good for calming the mind hence why he put me on it

Sodium valproate works on gaba receptors which are similar to benzodiazepines - it has a different mode of action making them different.

Give it a try I would.

P.S - they are not great for women who are looking to have children - just to let you know x
