Hi there, i have just typed in national phobic society and i have got lots of links to the site. However upon reading the first page and choosing the option on looking into how to join it came up with this:
Please note: Membership of the National Phobics Society does not imply membership of the charitable company - National Phobics Society
I do not understand what this means but it sounds a bit odd to me. And on just a quick scan over the page it said that you get a magazine sent to you, i think this may of been every month but i'm not sure, and it is £21 for individual membership. Not sure of the if's and but's about it didn't look that much sorry. But if you just type in national phobic society then you should have a few links to go at. Hope this helps.xx

yes i joined it a few months ago, once your a memeber you get telephone support and can pay for CBT over the phone or a meeting.
They send you magazines with up to date info:yesyes: .

Just been back on and it does give you information on different problems that people have. They also have a free email service, so you can send any problems you have or ask for advice. There is a phone number. Worth a look and to find out about it though i think.

I was a member of the NPS, but felt I was getting enough out of it. However, others may feel it really is worth itas they offer some good services.

Besides the magazine, they offer reduced rate for therapy sessions and have specialised helpliners. They do have a forum, but unless things have changed, it wasn't that well used.

A handful of areas do have meet-ups and I attended a couple of these.

As for that confusing phrase that angiebaby quoted, I shouldn't worry. Many charities have sister trading companies and I'm wondering if they're saying you aren't also a member of this other company as they are set up separately to satisfy legal requirements. It's just a technicality!

:yesyes: yes me too, im a member if the phobics, but i also prefer coming here!!!

its a shame really but that s just the way it goes!!! i keep up my membership in case i want counselling/therapy, which you can get at a reduced rate and you can get it over the phone.

i think if you could get to the centre in manchester it might be more helpful? but also dont forget they do have people you can speak to over the phone, although again i didnt find that any more helpful than coming here i think at the end of the day you realise that there is only you can make yourself better!
