Is 10mg of diazepam strong for an MRI?

Hello

I’m having an mri scan on Tuesday evening and have been given 2 x 5mg diazepam tablets to use as a sedative as I am extremely claustrophobic and anxious. I am going to take them both about 30 mins before the prpcedure.

I’ve never taken it before - I want to make sure it works! I appreciate you can’t tell me how my body will react to it but would appreciate your own knowledge/experience on using diazepam.

Hi 10mg for a first time is more than enough! 5mg will do the job and the other 5mg will seal the deal when I first started taking benzo 2mg of diazepam worked!

Hi, Yes 10mg should do just nicely. I would take it about an hr before though as it peaks at about 1 to 1 1/2hrs after taking.
