Lower Back Pain

For the past 3 months i have had non stop lower back ache and pain when bending fowards and backwards. It is mainly in the middle and right side of the lower back. I am 40 years old and up till now have never suffered with back pain.


I have stopped going to the gym but am doing alot of walking that seems to help slightly. Gp said its muscular and sent me to physio but this hasn't helped, 3 months for a muscle issue seems along time for me.


I have got myself worried about ankylosing spondylitis or some other arthritis type condition.


Should i press for an MRI or will this clear up if it is muscular?
