I clean cages at a local pet store where the rescue I volunteer with has cats available for adoption. This afternoon a man came in who was acting sort of strange and just walked up to the cage I was cleaning and started petting the cat in there. I think he had a mental disorder, his thoughts were fragmented and he didn’t make total sense. He kept walking away and coming back up to the cages, talking about the cats.
I had enough and got out of there. He walked out a minute behind me, without buying anything. He drove off right away, but for some reason that experience rattled me. I think he was more interested in the cats than me, but it’s still making me anxious and I’m running through all of these terrible what if scenarios in my head.
I also felt this was last week after a road rage incident where someone got really angry with me - I was anxious they would look me up and find me, so clearly there’s a pattern in my thoughts and anxieties here. It still makes me uncomfortable though. 😕
