i have been epileptic for over 20 years and about 10 years ago found a drug that controlled my fits , i then started having panic attacks and suffering aniexty which devloped into agrophobia , i blame my anixety on my daughter who was ill and had very bad behavrial problems and was extremly violent she is now better but my problems are still there , i recently moved and have got a new doctor who has explained that my problems could be down to the epilepsy drugs that i am taking , i am now going to see a specialist and hopefully i can get all this sorted out , but i am really scared as these are the only drugs that controll my fits and i was having at least 5 fits a day , is there anyone who has had the samr problem with epilepsy drugs i would love to talk to you and find out more , i have read this site and have found it very conforting ,

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the site. I am sorry that perhaps the meds that are helping you for one thing could be causing your anxiety. I do hope someone on here can help. I do know you will get tons of support.

Hugs,

Laura

Hi Lisa

:welcome: to NMP.

I don't have epilepsy but I'm taking an epilepsy drug for a different condition. Which one are you taking?

We are a friendly bunch here and I'm sure you will find some support and make some friends here.

Hi Lisa Jayne,

I am sorry you are having such a difficult time.

My son has epilepsy and currently takes Lamotrigine and Topiramate. I would have to say he hasn't experienced any anxiety or panic if anything he has become more relaxed and care free.

As a matter of interest both these drugs are also used as mood stabilisers and Topiramate can be used to treat bipolar disorder.

You will get lots of support and help on this forum. It may also be useful to try the epilepsy forum http://www.epilepsyforum.org.uk/ run by the national society for epilepsy.

Take care
