View Full Version : Feeling of intense panic before going to sleep

For the last couple of nights I have had an intense feeling of panic in my chest before I go to sleep, no pain but like I feel I am going to die or stop breathing! I have had panic attacks in the past but not the same as this.. I am totally shattered and now will be worried when I go to bed that it will keep happening... Anyone else get this. Many thanks in advance..

Once you have it, you expect it and thus unwittingly bring it on.

Lots of people think they are going to die during panic but no one EVER does. Neither will you stop breathing. Hold your breath...see, you can't stop it coming back....its one function of the body that we have no control over.

Try and do some abdominal breathing when you feel it coming on, slow and steady, feel your stomach rise with every inward breath. It does calm :)

Thank you for taking the time to reply much appreciated I’m dreading going to bed tonight keep thinking I have heart problems 🙁

You dont and you won't die or stop breathing. Try the abdominal breathing but ultimately you will be fine.....see you in the morning :)

Try putting music on that takes my mind off of my anxiety when I'm trying to get to sleep.
