I'm currently in testing for some left sided abdominal pain. So far all of my blood tests -CBC, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Lipase- have come back perfect. My doctor has referred me for an Upper GI and I'm waiting (and worrying) in the meantime. If I had cancer, would something have shown up? In just so worried because my mom was told she had "treatable but not curable cancer" years ago. I'm so scared that's going to happen to me too.

I assume you're worried about stomach cancer, hence why your doctor has referred you for an upper gastroscopy?

I'm not going to say "yes, blood tests catch all cancers" because that's a lie. Some people with cancer will not have abnormalities in the blood, whilst others will have abnormalities.

Abdominal pain can be caused by so many things other than cancer.

In the case of cancer of the stomach, you'd probably have a lot more symptoms than just some pain.

I really don't think you have anything to worry about here :-).

I had an OGD done a few years ago for reflux. Don't worry about the procedure - I found it relatively comfortable (considering!)!
