AGGHHH!! I thought that it would make me feel better, but now I'm just panicking about "never being able to have children" and all the many things that ARE wrong with me - including all the STDs I DEFINITELY caught 6 years ago before I met my husband. (note the capital letters are for a slightly sarcastic/ironic tone of voice!)

Has anyone has any experience of infertility and can anyone offer me advice?

hey,

i don't want children right away (i'm 26) but i would like them in the next couple of years, and i guess if it doesn't happen after a while i will have to go to a fertility expert. i've had an std in the past too- chlamydia from my promiscuous ex. unfortunately it damaged at least one of my tubes and i had an ectopic pregnancy without even realising i was pregnant - needless to say i lost the tube. i've also recently had treatment for cervical abnormalities that meant i lost part of my cervix  . so not so good. i find it hard not to think back in the past and not have regret for things.. i never had one night stands and was always pretty responsible, but i still feel like i wish i had waited for the amazing guy i am with now, then things would be so different, but hey, live and learn...

fertility problems depend on the type of std you had, if like me and a million others you had chlamydia then you may be more susceptible to tube problems and will have to be monitored more closely - but still the VAST majority of people who have had it still have children and i think i read that even if like me you had an ectopic and lost a tube theres still an 85% chance of having kids naturally!

not sure if this helps, but good luck! :flowers:

I got caught pregnant when i was 17 with my boyfriend an suffered a misscarrige at 3 months after that we decided we wanted 2 try 4 a baby 2 years later i still hadnt conceived so i went the doctors an had lots of tests they said i was not ovulating, hearing them words killed me as we had always wanted children! A year later i got caught pregnant but i was so scared an had in my head i was gonna hav another misscarrage june 12th of this year i had a lovley baby boy!
Alls i can say is try not 2 worry as that can stop ovulation an just let it happen also stay healthy.

There are many many reasons why you have not fallen pregnant, including poor diet, stress, previous STDs, fibroids, etc etc. It may also be your other half and not yourself who has a potential fertility problem. There are also many support sites for those going through infertility investigations. www.fertilityzone.co.uk (http://www.fertilityzone.co.uk/) is particularly good.

it's pretty common, to be refered to a fertility specialist and I think if you are thats very lucky as well. I have PCOS and don't ovulate so was referred to a specialist, they helped me regulate my ovulation and now my son is nearly a year old. It took us a while, being a bit stressed doesn't help, so try to relax about it. some people have had children suddenly after trying for 10 years with no luck. Also it could be your partner and there is all types of medication/lifestyle changes that they can advise on to help. It's not all doom and gloom.

Anyhow if they put you on clomid, there may be a chance of twins if you fancied some. Good luck and it's important to think positive!! eat well, sleep well exercise and stay positive.

Take care.
