This is the third time I have posted about my freckles! But for the last few days I have had dry skin over one, tonight I picked it off and it was like a light brown scab that came off! I am totally freaking out, I have worried about these freckles on my face for two years, they are quit big! Now my worst fear is coming true! I feel so sick!

I know I should lgo to the doctors but I am genuinely terrified!

Anyone? I know I constantly think I’m dying but this feels real! I’ve worried about these freckles for just over two years and now this happens!

You had dry skin (possibly because it’s winter?) the skin came off, as skin does. Can you explain a little more what part of the experience is bothering you the most?

Positive vibes,

The part which is bothering me most is the fact that the scab, although tiny was light brownish, I think now the patch of skin looks different. It’s almost like the freckle has come off which I know can’t happen. So now I’m sure it’s skin cancer! I just can’t believe I’ve worried about it for so long and now this. I’ve left it too long so if it is something sinister it’ll be advanced!

I should say I’m always touching these freckles, they are in my cheek. I tried to squeeze it the other day, stupid I know!

It has not changed and you cant pick freckles off it looks like the others on your face according to your pictures you have dried skin that you removed and yes old skin can have a brownish to yellowish tint to it, why be scared to get it checked? If it were there are treatments that can be done, go get it checked and put your mind at ease.

Louise,

I'm not even going to look at the photos :lac: Admin advises not to post them and no one here is a dermatologist. Besides, I've looked at freckles, mouth caves, poop, and graphic images of private parts here and none of them were necessary to post. How can one make a determination from a photo anyway?

That said, based on your post history and description, I'd bet my bottom dollar nothing sinister is going on. You're obsessed with your freckles and pick at them. If you're really that concerned, see a doctor, but I'm quite sure the "Told Ya So" gang will be making an appearance.

Thank you for the replies, I know I really am obsessed with them. It was just weird how the dry skin came off and the colour of it. I really think it was a brown scab and not a freckle which is sending me into full blown panic mode. I’m scared I’ll end uo with half my face gouged out because of it then die.

I had a feeling that things where going to get worse going into the New Year and it seems maybe they are. I wish I could stop worrying and freaking out!

Looks like just a freckle to me.

It’s gotten lighter, it’s as if a tiny freckle has fallen off, I know that’s not possible. What I’m saying is that it wasn’t a freckle, it must be skin cancer!

This is what happens when the dry skin comes off a freckle. I promise, nothing abnormal or scary is happening.

Thanks for all the responses, made me feel better. But now the dry skin is coming back, trying not to freak out. Keep thinking it’s going to get really big.

If you're still worried see your Dr and get a freckle\mole check done then you can put your mind at rest.

I know, I can’t go on like this, but I have a real phobia of the doctors. I’m so scared I’m going to leave my son without a mum.

This is such an over reaction on your part... the worst it could be is solar keratosis, not even basal cell cancer (which is slow moving and totally curable).

There are also other brown marks on our skin as we age which slough off, my skin specialist calls them barnacles, I forget their medical names. I get heaps of these and they're totally benign.

When I had basal cell carcinoma, it was a lot more obvious than dry skin. I had a lump on my forehead with a scab that didn't heal for literal years. Despite me waiting five years to see the GP about it, removing it took 45 minutes and a local anaesthetic; the only reason it took that long was that I was relatively young so they brought a plastic surgeon in to do a neat repair.

Louise I have the exact same thing I got sunburnt a few months back my skin peeled and I picked the dry skin off my freckle it turned a darker colour and I was convinced I had melanoma. It healed in a few weeks and it disappeared completely I just have an almost invisible indent where I scratched it off left behind. I’m also worrying about it at the moment but only since the last day or two (it happened May 2018) I haven’t been sick since it happened and realistically if it was the worst case scenario it was a basal cell which isn’t even a real cancer as it doesn’t spread. A freckle is just a pigmented patch of skin and when it gets damaged or injured it acts like normal skin and can be picked off trust me I’ve researched it so much (bad thing) and even though I’m stil worried about mine I know it’s the anxity talking and this is my new obsession. I promise you you don’t have skin cancer. Stop picking your skin and let it be for a few weeks and it’ll heal up and if it still bothers you have it checked out I had my gp look over mine in June so a month after and even though he skimmed over it he didn’t seem worried and now it’s gone completely.

picked at that freckle again on my face, now it’s bigger, darker and raised! I have posted about this freckle a million times! I just panic over it every now and then. I have two giant freckles on my cheek and one has like a little dot like a pore and I always pick at it. The thing is I picked it a year ago and it came off now did it again ( with tweezers) and it’s worse! I have had these freckles for a long time, 8 years or more. Just sacred one has turned into cancer, read there is a skin cancer that takes 5-15 years to develop. Has anyone had anything like this?

It's bigger, darker, and raised because you picked at it. For Heavens sake, stop doing that. Get a skin check instead. They will probably tell you the same thing I did, it would be fine if you would leave it alone. And wear sunscreen, of course.

I know, I don’t know why I picked at it, I just can’t help myself. I want to go to the doctors with it now but think they won’t take me seriously now that I picked at it.

Being that you've had this freckle issue (https://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthread.php?224838-Cancerous-Freckle) for a while and you continue to pick at it, they will tell you what you're being told here. Now, if you go admitting this is a mental issue and need help, I'm quite sure you'd be taken very seriously.

You can still have them look at it. You need to leave the spots alone for about one or two weeks in order to allow them to heal first. My guess is that if you call for an appointment for a skin check, your appointment will be at least that far out anyway. So you just need to leave it alone while you are waiting for your appointment date,

I know, I can’t believe I picked at it again, I seriously cannot help myself! I feel calmer about it now, but I will make an appointment. It’s so embarrassing obsessing over something this long, my family are fed up with it, they just don’t want to hear it anymore.

Have you been able to go to the doctor to get it checked? I currently am trying to work up the courage to go see a dermatologist for a mole check. I am so afraid to go.

Hi, no still haven’t been. It scabbed over then I picked it off, now there’s nothing there just looks like a tiny pore, my face is full of them and spots. I’m trying not to think about it or touch the skin where it was!
