So my first one was booked in 2014! I kid you not.
It’s now 2019 and I’ve just cancelled the one I was suppose to have on Monday as I didn’t get my insurance through in time. To be honest I a man relieved but I still know I need one!! I get really bad heartburn and pain in my stomach.
Anyone else keep cancelling? Please tell me I’m not the only one! I’m booking another one and will attend it!
But seriously ... I’m terrified.

What is it that’s scaring you about it?

Don't be scared. I had one a couple of years ago for stomach pain. My friend had had 3 in the past and told me to go for the local anaesthetic but I decided not to and just go with the procedure. I laid on my side and they slowly feed the tube down your throat telling you to swallow as it goes. It isn't that comfortable, naturally, but it went okay and it's a weird feeling when the tube is 'exploring.' It didn't take long. I would have felt nothing at all had I opted for the anaesthetic so just go for it. The staff are very well trained and gentle. They found nothing wrong which I hope will be the case for you.

I think I'm so scared that something is wrong that I dont' want to do it- which seems counter intuitive.... ive cancelled it for 2 years now! Seriously 2 years... they have told me if I cancel this one then they wont book me in to another one...... :( I think I have barretts Oesphagus.

If you think you have Barretts Oesophagus and this turns out to be real, then you will need meds for it.

Just do it. You will be so pleased when it’s over (and gastroscopies are not that bad)
