Tight chest

Hi all, been having horrible chest pressure especially when I lay down to sleep. I feel like I have to cough stuff up but nothing comes out. My chest actually feels like it could explode sometimes because there is so much pressure. I even went to the ER yesterday and they couldn't find anything. I did have a chest xray the day before that showed overinflated lungs but the 2nd x ray shows nothing. I am really struggling to cope with this chest pressure and cant get in to see my doctor until next week. Any advice to cope?

Hyperinflation in the lungs can be caused by asthma. I have had this sensation sometimes when going through an asthma flare.

So it might be worth looking into asthma here...

Obviously if you get wheezing, shortness of breath, tightness etc that is severe, head back to the ER as that would suggest an asthma attack.
