I have been taking a new BP medication for 6 days now. I read the leaflet inside and am now really scared of the scary side effects such as lips/eyes/throat swelling. Does anyone else worry about medication side effects like this? I know it is not a common side effect but apparently is is more common in BP meds. Stupid health anxiety :(

I, too, get nervous about medication side effects. But, like you said, they are all very rare. They have to print them all to cover their butts legally, but you'll be ok.

I read an article years ago about the "no-cebo effect". It's the opposite of the placebo effect - people who are told a certain drug has side effects are more likely to exhibit those side effects than those who aren't told about them. And, they found it's even stronger than the placebo effect! So, try not to focus on the side effects. You've been on the drug for 6 days so surely you'd have had those effects by now.

That type of side effect sound like an allergic reaction, so if you were going to have one it would have happened after your first dose.

All the time, I hate taking anything other than painkillers unless I have to. I too read the leaflets because I want to know what type of side effects to expect. Like said above it's extremely rare 0.01% or so. and severe allergic reactions often occur fast.
