I am back on this forum afte being mostly panic free for years.
I had some intrusive thoughts & panic attack Monday night & then was up all night with waves of panic/anxiety every time I drifted off to sleep.
Next day I got some beta blockers which seemed to help & I slept well and today I feel relatively normal most of the day.
That is until I went to sleep - I slept for maybe an hour and then woke up feeling panicked. Ever since I have drifted off for maybe 5/10 minutes and I wake up in a jolt, full on panic.
I've never experienced this before, really struggling to cope.
Anyone else experience this?

It’s really common with anxiety, and I remember how scary it is. Y personal opinion is that we fall asleep really tense, and then as our muscles start to relax into sleep, it jolts us. Which just proves how tense we were - possibly without realising it.

It definitely helps to do some form of relaxation exercise before bed. I like progressive muscle relaxation.

I've had this a lot.. also random surges of adrenaline just as I can feel I'm dropping off. It's a horrible symptom.. know you are not alone in this! :hugs:

I got prescribed some diazepam & that seemed to do the trick, just started on sertraline too
