Last night I was out with chatting with a colleague and they spit in my eye while talking to me. Immediately my mind started evaluating potential horrible scenarios - specifically HIV. Should I be worried?

What is it with the HIV fear recently? It seems to be a popular fear right now.

This is not a risk. Saliva actually neutralises HIV.

The only way you can get HIV is via the following:

* Anal sex with an infected person withOUT a condom
* Vaginal sex with an infected person withOUT a condom
* Sharing needles with an HIV +ve person (e.g. to 'shoot up' heroin etc)

Oral sex is not a risk factor for HIV, by the way.
