I have severe emetophobia which has amalgamated into a phobia of going to the bathroom for loose stools. Thankfully, my diet revolves around quite beige and dry foods but I LOVE spicy food and for the past 10 months after having constant flare ups of loose movements, I've been OK. Generally I can eat a balance of vegetables (broccoli) meats, fish, couscous, rice , bread aswell as tomoatoes, red peppers and fruit juices and feel great. However, every so often (like today), Ive woken up to bad gas and cramps and Ive been to the bathroom twice already and its been almost water ..I ate at Subway last night after a night out and Im scared its the food..I dont feel sick but everytime I feel like I need to rush to the toilet Im filled with horrible anxiety..Ive been biting my nails for over ten years cos of this and I start doing it profusely when I need to "go" ..I dont know how to relax when I get the urge cos it feels so imminent..thankfully I can chill in my room today but Im a postgrad student so cant really accomodate my anxiety as Im around people almost 24/7. Anyone else?

I’m also an emetophobe with ibs, I would imagine it’s probably just the different foods causing a flare up. I hate when I have watery movements too. I very much doubt that the food was bad, just hasn’t agreed with you very much.

Positive vibes,
