Hey everyone,
Today I spent 300 pound to see a private neurologist who specialised in MS in london. The whole thing lasted two hours. I went to see one because I started to get muscle twitches all over and worried I may have ALS because of other symptoms. He went through the usual, babinski, reflexes and such and told me aside from some brisk knee reflexes and an absent abdominal reflex I was completely normal. He then sat me down and diagnosed me with something called CSS, a essential tremor and fibro. He did some strength tests on me but not enough for me to be settled with (i know, i know) and i asked him about ALS and he shook his head and said absolutely not. He said I had more chance of finding out I was a man.
But obviously the anxious brain came in and when I got home I googled what absent absent reflexes are and boom there was ALS, SO OBVIOUSLY, I have spiralled.
He mentioned if things did not improve or got worse he would look at my spine for MS as that would be more likely.
Things to note- He said he couldn't even see my twitches and therefore wasn't happy enough to diagnose me with even BFS, he said I had no weakness he could see, (even though he didn't actually check that much or maybe I am wrong) and that everything seemed normal to him.
I am just so much more anxious than I was. He was meant to be a top doctor, but the absent abdominal reflex and brisk knee reflexes have got me convinced its actually ALS. Anyone have a similar story? OR any advice that could help?
Please help or give advice if you can, I thought today would be the end of all this.
