Hi , I知 due to go to Portugal today and have already bailed on my flight Wednesday to go by ferry overnight then drive 16hrs tomorrow. I have now transferred my fears to this journey. I知 fairly fit and look after myself pretty well. My chances of having a heart attack are minimal but why am I so scared of travelling?? The fear is driving me nuts.

You need to remind yourself that the same medical assistance exists for ill people, even when travelling - infact it could be argued that it would be better as you are surrounded by people (some of whom will be doctors LOL) and plenty to take action and get you help. NOT that I think you will need help of course, as you know inside that your chances of a heart-attacks during travelling are like - nearly zero - they are no different than any other time.

Thanks Carys, it痴 just the fear in idle times before the journey. Once the journey starts I知 normally fine.

I could have written this post myself! I know it's so difficult to get the dread out of your mind. I've not nearly gone on so many trips because of the fear of this happening. I just try to remind myself that I've gone before and nothings happened--and like Carys said. There's always people around to help! I hope you have a good trip x
