I work as a kennel assistant in a vets, whilst restraining a very upset German Shepard last Wednesday (a week today), he flung his head into the left side of mine quite hard. I was a bit dizzy with blurred vision afterwards but tried to play it off. Carried on the rest of my shift a bit dizzy but fine.

I've been having left side headaches since then - they come and go but have been ice pick type on my left temple at times that I've had to stop what I'm doing to get over. But generally it's a frequent but on and off pressure/tension headache up the left side and behind my left eye. It's definitely triggered if I touch the area with pressure or if I'm exerting myself a bit.

I dont want to do my usual thing and overplay this but I've already convinced myself I have a blood clot amongst other things and I'm trying to avoid going to my GP and being sent away. I'm guessing if it was something awful it would've been a lot worse by now?

Any advice is appreciated.

It would be worse if it was something serious, yes. You banged your head hard, is all.

"Ice pick" or "stabbing" headaches like you describe are almost never a sign of anything serious (99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999%) of the time. During my "brain tumour anxiety" days, or should I say at the height of them, I was reassured by a very good Neurologist that these headaches are nothing to worry about.

If it was something serious, you'd have known by now.

Good luck

So you're pretty certain then, Mr G? :sign20:

Yes haha. They always freaked me out when I was 17/18/19.. But honestly nothing to worry about :-) :-)

Come on, can't you be a bit more accurate than that? That's just not good enough for anxiety :winks::biggrin:

Holliee, it might have been a mild concussion with the dizziness and blurred vision but the dangers of concussions are more early on as even hospitals only monitor initially if they think they need to. It's for a doctor to say.

But like any bang it's likely bruised hence you have some mild discomfort until the body heals it. That's probably why you are getting some aching now.
