View Full Version : Woke up short of breath?? help

I went to lay in bed during the day at 2PM and fell asleep.. woke up at like 4PM and felt super dizzy/brain fog and short of breath.
Felt like i couldn't catch a good breath, my head felt foggy and my mouth and throat were so dry also. It lasted about 30min before i felt somewhat normal again

I take Sertraline (low dose) and i've felt foggy before when sleeping too long, but this time also shortness of breath..

What is this??? I'm 29 btw.

Unfortunately it's a very common symptom of anxiety, most often caused by muscle tension. The best thing to do is try and breath slowly through your nose and stay calm.

Quite often when you feel short of breath you'll try and force a 'full' breath over and over again and hyperventilate without ever realising it, making the sensation of shortness of breath even worse.
