I am 17 years old and I have had a pain in my upper left abdomen close to my left hip for around a month I started getting worried after over 1 week of it happening and then around 2 weeks of the pain happening I went to the bathroom to poop and as I was pooping I was straining harder than I ever had before and I saw blood on the end of my stools not mixed in it was a more than little amount I flushed it and I probably saw a piece of bright red blood on my toilet paper but it was small. I told my mom to bring me to the doctor but she said that it was probably low fiber so I ended up switching my diet on the same day my mom made me salad and toasted wheat bread and the next morning my stool came out completely normal no blood in sight and there has not been blood ever since but the aches were still there so I went to a doctor about the aches and she said that it IBS but sometimes its hard to believe in the span of the past 3-4 weeks I lost weight that I link to Cancer but I think it might be due to me barely eating enough I went to eating big meals from breakfast to dinner often over eating to eating stuff like toasted bread or boiled eggs for breakfast and small amounts of oatmeal for lunch and for night time i generally eat an average amount of cereal also ran a couple miles 2 times in this span, I probably have ate well under 1000 calories some days. The amount of weight I was 4-5 pound from my last check up which was three weeks ago when my symptoms started. And I have been obessed checking my poop even though there is nothing. Also the aches have gotten better they leave body like an hour before I go to bed and for my weight I tried eating more to see if I can add on weight. My parents and doctor have noticed im anxious and said I do not eat anything. I also never pass gas or burp and I have an on and off pain in my lower left rib. Can symptoms just leave such as the blood incident it only happened one time it might of been a hemmoroid but I feel no pain but I remember month ago I wiped hard an saw fresh blood so I dont know plus my stomach and abdominal pains get better when I tend to relax but irritated after some foods but they are not as bad as they use to be.

I have no history of colon or bowel cancer or anything related to it M y mom thinks im inflicting pain on myself due to putting pressure on my abs see even said she went crazy that she might have breast cancer due to pain but was all clear for test and then the pain went away. When I go to sleep the pain goes away .
I am also obsessed with measuring my weight as im scared of that but due to flucutation i never know I checked my weight all day with different varying results
For what stem my stomach problems was from my checkup when they found microscopic urine in my pee but said it was probably an infection and sent it to a lab but never got a call back its been a month but my mom told me that it often happens to her and to stay calm as my doctor was calm to but I started searching stuff up on google and I though hard on it and the pain came right after I was feeling well I know that caused me to be like that

But for now Im still scared but the stomach pain are almost gone and I know my weight probabl has to do with my anxiety lack of eating

Cancer pains don't come and go so if you have no pain at night how can it be cancer + your age.

IBS maybe but that would need confirming

My doctor said it was most likely IBS and possibly trapped gas under my left rib cage

Yes, you should stop checking and obsessing. Our weight can vary throughout the day.

You're 17. You don't have cancer but you do have anxiety. Please speak to your parents, a school counselor or trusted adult about getting real life help. As I said, our weight fluctuates all the time due to what we eat, how much we eliminate waste etc... perfectly normal and factual. You need to teach your brain that and that can't be done with words on a screen on an anxiety forum.

I know that it’s anxiety but it’s hard to not link symptoms to cancer because of how much I been googling like las night to this morning I felt slmewhat Torres and fatigued and I convinced myself I’m in my the last stages of life I would think that it is anxiety but I am a worst case scenario person so I think that I am furthering my tiredness by being anxious 24/7 for around a month now even though I have psychically felt somewhat better. Just feeling tired this morning scared me it feels like my body is tired but I do have a bad sleep scheduale but I don’t know have you ever had the same things I have. Do you think I’m hyper aware o my body

I have a daughter that suffers from anxiety and depression. She came to me at around your age and spoke to me about what was going on. I, along with her mother, made sure she got professional help. She still goes to therapy and is on medication (she's 26 now). It's been a struggle and she has ups and downs but she doing well, l and while she still has her moments, she's learned techniques to help her cope when the dragon acts up.

I urge you to speak with your parents, a school counselor or trusted adult and get real life help. There's no reason, at 17, you should be suffering like this.

CALM. DOWN.

Your anxiety is spiralling and carrying you away with it. There's lots of useful advice to be had here, but only if you engage with us - if you tell us repeatedly that you have cancer there's not a lot any of us can do because we're not oncologists.

Are you getting any treatment for your anxiety?

Honestly, when mine leaves me exhausted I take it as a hint that I need to rest more - being in panic mode for long periods of time uses up a lot of energy.

kmois

You guys are 100% right about handling anxiety but it’s hard to not think about the what if and I do need to remember that getting this disease at 17 is rare and I have no family history and I have had HA for around 4 years on and off.Plus the pain comes and go almost entirely gone only happens when I stress plus the blood stool incident happened once and never persisted after my diet change. My weight fell due to not eating enough and working out time to time plus drinking apple cider vinegar which is a detox and promotes weight losstime to time. Plus me feeling faint is probably lack of fluids\lack of sleep due to waking my mom waking me up early, 6:40 am to bring her to work and sleeping at 10 to 11 at night. It just that when new symptoms pop up I automatically worry such as feeling tired last night through to this morning I automatically link it to cancer in its last stages specifically. I tend to have spend like the last 20 sum days looking at symptoms online and watching YouTube videos related to medical conditions. I’m sorry but the feeling feels so real that’s why I’m like this. Before my fear of this I had some anxiety OCD and depression about school often overchecking work and crying due to mental images in my mind about failing and getting my college acceptance from top tier school rescinded this fear is parallel to my fear of o having a life threatening disease

kmois
09-05-19, 18:07

I am now accepting this as anxiety but I’m finding it hard to get advice because my parents are not people you can usually opening up to. Plus Bieber I’m feeling lightheadedness and tiredness the pass few days right after thinking hard about those symptoms so I’m finding it hard not to think about. It hard not to link it to anything but my weight has been stable looks like I’m gaining a little pain under left rib comes and go still have no idea what that can be what do you think are possible reasons for it. No blood in stool but still have some diarrhea here and there stomach settles with fiber food. Was there being really no blood to one small tint on my tiolet paper a big concern cause that never happened again and I’m sure it was a pile or hemmoroid from a month prior. It’s hard to not think it how can I make the lightheaded go it has to be anxiety now

I think I posted a week ago of my symptoms ad those who dont know I am a 17 year old male and I found blood in my stool and had pretty bad stomach pain as well as weight loss due to not eating.

It has been over two weeks since blood was found on my stool and ever since that incident it never happened again stool began normal with fiber better diet cut out processed food. Plus do you think it was cancer because the blood never came back and I only go to poo one to two times a day can a cancer symptoms such as blood in stool come and go or does it persist cause I have been have less diarrea better stools when I eat better?

Stomach pains are still there but have gotten way better to point I think when I get over anxiety it will be gone. During some durations of the day I feel nothing. Stomach pains that come and go is not cancer right?

My weigh has been stable looks like I am gaining a little bit as I am now forcing myself to eat but im expecting it to jump around as im running 1-2 miles every other day

What new thing I am dealing with is lightheadedness, it all started one night when I noticed I had all the symptoms listed before but not fatigue or nausea/lighheadedness then I started experiencing it all day everyday as I began thinking about it more and it has effected me as I went to an dance event and felt lightheaded and I was thinking about it so hard. Has anyone experienced this. but when I go on rigorus runs I dont feel it as much I actually feel better. I have feeling to fall over or anything.Only time I feel well is when Im driving sitting down or laying down my sister who is a nurse tells me it in my mind as I told her all my symptoms and did not worry once as well as my family members see I am very anxious as well as my doctors. Again I have no family history of bowel/colon cancer.

How do I get over thinking about being lightheaded and connecting it to cancer. do you guys think anti depressants are the way as I see that they have people who feel psyhcial symptoms as they dont feel it anymore cause they dont think about it.

Hey

I've been through and am still going through a very similar situation that's been going on for about 9 months regarding seeing random areas of blood on my stool and once on the paper. I saw a specialist last week and he checked my rectum and lower end of my sigmoid colon and found nothing but said one of my hemorrhoid veins (we all have 3 anyway but it's when they swell that it causes a problem) looks swollen so that could be what's bleeding

I'm not a doctor but my understanding is that bowel cancer usually bleeds A LOT and is very consistent in its bleeding patterns. Blood tends to sort of "explode" in the toilet bowl along with diarrhoea, but even that could be a simple burst hemorrhoid

The fact that you haven't seen blood since improving your diet is very reassuring because it shows that a low fiber diet, in your case = blood.

That would make the cause a low fiber diet, so you could be irritating hemorrhoids or you could have a fissure.

Also you're from the USA? Over a four year period of time within the last 10 years I think, only 0.1% of new cases of bowel cancer were diagnosed in under 20 year olds in the USA. That's a very small number

Also being lightheaded has no connection with bowel cancer

Im thinking of buying B12 or magnesium as it is natural to help with energy level and anxiety and being lightheaded to help with my lightheadedness its crazy my stool gotten way better no blood in three and a half weeks, little to no stomach pain anymore cause of my change of diet, force myself to eat to gain weight and as I am finally getting over my fear of colon/bowel cancer I have lightheadness from time to time its crazy all the other symptoms go away a new comes, anxiety is hell

Almost a month ago I made a post in which a I talked about blood in my stool that only occurred once that never happened again after 3 1/2 weeks. I changed diet stool became better stomach pains are getting better and better each day some days I don’t feel them at all and my weight loss from not eating was solved from me forcing myself to eat with me gaining weight. I cut out processed food workout daily and the symptoms have slowly gone away but now I’m having lightheadedness for a week causing me to feel unbalanced like I’m going to fall but I notice when I tend to walk more I don’t feel unbalanced as much I have no tiredness, fatigue, weight loss, headaches only mild stomach pain when irritated they barely ever happen and my other symptoms have gotten better good stool.
I was diagnosed with ibs by a doctor
I know the changes of it being bowel/colon cancer is low due to the fact things have gotten significantly better and my poop was never black and stomach pains go away. I am also 17 with no family history.
It just gets to my head when all the other symptoms get progressively better one thing has to pop out of the blue my mom thinks it’s anxiety as well as my sister who is a nurse as I always think on it but how can I get over this
The lightheadedness has stayed the same
I am still able to run and excercise as I can run 1-3 miles with no problem or feeling of falling out.
I’m happy the blood in the stool stopped, I’m gaining back my weight, no serious stomach pain, better diet but the lightheadedness is making me go back into my old ways of thinking

It's the nature of anxiety. It can and will effect multiple, random parts of your body sporadically, or at the same time.

Focus on dealing with the anxiety, not each individual symptom. They will come and go.

The chances of you having colon cancer are zero.

Don't push the workout and exercise too much, long distance running in particular is stressful on the central nervous system, and brisk walking is just as effective for health, but way less taxing on your body.

It was actually less than two weeks ago ;) GREAT JOB on changing your diet and exercising! That makes such a huge difference. There's another member here that should follow your lead!

You've been in an anxious state for a while and what you're experiencing are the after effects.

Remember...

Anxiety is like a campfire. When you're in the midst of a spiral the fire is burning bright and hot. When the flames die down, there's still a bed of red hot coals burning away just waiting for some more fuel. You may not feel anxious but your body is still on high alert and has a bed of hot anxiety coals inside just waiting to flare up. Just like a campfire, the hot coals of anxiety take a long time to finally go out.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the advice I am honestly surprised I been able to treat my ibs in this short amount of time because the amount of stories of people having it for years, I have fixed mine in a matter of 2 1/2 weeks with minor pain here and there bit nothing serious. I am very happy like the bloody stool went away and never persisted along with other symptoms but the lightheadedness has happened all day in the morning I feel little to nothing but the more I think of it it gets worse ALL DAY then its repeat day after day. There has been times I caught myself not being lightheaded and it instantly came back. I think hard about whether I feel fatigued or lightheaded which I feel has been causing it, it been llike this for 1 1/2 weeks I know deep in my heart it isnt siister but my mind tells me otherwise besides this everything is pretty fine i went days without googling but the lightheadedness makes me feel anxious Im still positive as my other symptoms gotten better/ left
