So with my current little ocd theme I’m paralysed that I may have slept with a guy who I kissed years ago ( to be clear I told my partner about it, I am very remorseful )
Anyways this thought came to me three nights ago during a particularly bad ocd period. Not going to go into details as that’s on a different post.

My question is, I’m practicing just letting the thoughts be, not analysing them, but then if my mind has been quiet for half hour or whatever it’s like I do a scan to check the thought still exists and to check if it still feels real? What’s this about any ideas how to stop?

Accept the thought, but then try not to move on to the checking process. I know that's incredibly hard, though.

Oh defo! It’s like my body scans to make sure I’m still suffering. But I’m holding onto my few hours of calm, tonight it’s there still but it’s like a quite tv show instead of a rock concert

No, that scanning is only going to restart it. It's just compulsion.

You don't need to know it's not there, the fact it isn't bothering you already tells you this. To then think about it is to open the door to it again.'

I’ve bounced back fairly quickly today, thankyou very much guys.
I still find I check to see if the thought still bothers me but I’m able to dismiss everything much quicker today. It’s scary how bad intrusive thoughts can be
