Hello, my name is Justin and I'm a 27 year old male from California, USA. I have been a hypochondriac and have suffered from health anxiety for most of my adult life so far. I am currently in the middle of a relapse related to BFS (benign fasciculation syndrome) and worrying symptoms that make me think it might be worse than that.

Hi Justin,

You wouldn't believe how many twitchy people we have here. I don't recall a single occasion when it ever turned out to be anything significant.

Are you being treated for anxiety right now?

Hi!

During the initial phase of this health anxiety attack, I was treated for anxiety with SSRIs and therapy. This was after 3 months of pushing multiple for EMGs from neuromuscular specialists and neurologists on top of attempting to expedite the process with my GP. Since then, no real symptoms aside from twitching happened but I had been living pretty much every day with it in the back of my mind. I stopped letting it control my life after a while, and I thought I had it under control until a few months ago when strange things started happening to me again.

It might be worth trying to get a top-up on your therapy, to help you get back up to speed on your coping techniques.

I am in the process of that and going back on the SSRIs I was prescribed a year and a half ago. I ran out and never re-filled the prescription, but that was almost a year ago at this point.

This is good - I'm glad to hear you've got the self-awareness to get the help you need. From experience, the real problems I've seen here come up when people fail to acknowledge their condition.
