hello there im due to have a 24 hour ecg monitor this thursday would like to know if the machine they use picks up if its just stress , iv been getting constant palpitations for a few months now they dont stop one after the other all day and sometimes all evening and then stopp for a few weeks then the same again , the thing is they have just started again after not having any for about 3 weeks and im worried im still going to have them when i have the monitor on thursday , now i know the palpitations are the reason im having it anyway but i really would of prefered to have it while im not having the palpitations it might sound silly but its really stressing me out , so when i go back to have it looked at will they know if the palpitations are down to stress or not because they dont stop once they start and im worried there is something wrong with my heart . thanks

If you scroll to the bottom of your page, you'll see several similar posts and a search will yield pages of results.

Sadly Jackie, reassurance above and beyond what you've read or can read now on the forum, won't really quell your fear. You won't relax until its over and forum history shows even then, when getting the all clear, some niggle of doubt remains. Having read all those posts and threads, I'm sure you realized nothing was found of any significance on any of them, whether it was written a week a month or years ago. Express your concerns and questions to your doctor. And yes, it will pick up if there are any palps and when nothing of concern comes up, it will be attributed to stress and anxiety.

the palpitaions have not stopped once since i have had this monitor put on at 11 this morning i know im making a fuss because i have read these are very common but i have never had these before and to not stop one after the other is really frightening me now its been 3 hours and not had a break and are really strong , i except im getting worked up because of the monitor but it just feels my heart is going mad in there and without a break is making me panic , so when it comes to my results being read its just going to look like there is something wrong with my heart i think , can this really be anxiety it just feels its going to stop how much can your heart take its been 2 months like this with a few weeks of no palpitations in between , i know i have to wait for results because no one can know for sure till then but has anyone had palpitaions this bad and the results have been alright .
