Subungual melanoma fears

On my middle toenail there is a weird brownish spot at the very top of the nail and I'm worried this is subungual melanoma.
Although it's typically a stripe mine is not like that yet but I am fearing it may I'm actually beginning to panic.

I followed a blog by a GP turned dermatologist in England called Stephen Hayes dermoscopy.

He has stated on his website that a brown mark on the nai, like you describe, is NEVER melanoma if there is clearly no connection to the nail bed.
